What a shame! A man of such a high reputation has to restart his struggle against someone whom he recommended for the post of Prime Minister. Of course, he asked for it but unwillingly. He thought he was soft and weak that he could get him removed at wish after a term of governing the nation as prime minister. Not anymore, as he later found out, the man didn't want to give up despite all the demands for his resignation; he simply wants to continue until he's done. Tun Mahatir has a lot to protect his family and the so-called supporter's interests. There are simply so critical that removal of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is the only solution. One dynasty is not enough, and AAB dynasty has barely taking off.
Tun M's plan will not succeed this time that no one will take the risk following someone no longer has real power. Unlike before, Mahatir can easily rallied people to come to his aid at wish, not mentioning the resources from government where he could easily manipulate to his advantages. He will make himself looking like a fool at the end.
I really doubt that Tun M cares for his people (Malays), he merely makes use of his peoples to regain his family glory, fortune, and power. Maybe he's not totally not caring for his peoples, but I guess that he might be working for his family a lot more than the public.
Can Najib take over from AAB? Answer is "No" because Najib has been plaquing with the Mongolian Girl case and has been hardly able to be ambitious. Other UMNO leaders are not really able to cause any impact to AAB. That's why Tun M became impatient to the extent of quitting hoping that others in UMNO will follow suit in order to pressurise AAB to leave office.
